Privacy policy

Last updated 21 October 2026.

Ecommerce Ad Scan (“the tool”) is a private research program run by MG, Helsinki, Finland (“the operator”). This policy explains what Google user data the tool accesses and what it does with it.

Who the tool is for

The tool has one user: the operator. It signs in only to the operator's own Google account and Google Ads account. No other person can sign in to it, and it collects no data from visitors to this website.

Google data the tool accesses

With the operator's consent, given on Google's sign-in screen, the tool uses the Google Ads API (scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/adwords) to request Keyword Planner data: estimated monthly searches and related figures for product phrases the operator supplies, by country and language. It does not read campaigns, ads, audiences, billing or payment data, and it makes no changes to the Google Ads account.

How the data is used

Search figures are used only to decide which products are worth testing for sale in the European Union. They are not used for advertising to anyone, not sold, not used to build profiles of people, and not used to train machine-learning models.

How the data is stored

Sharing

Google user data is not shared with, sold to or transferred to any third party. Summary findings derived from it, such as “this product phrase has about N searches a month in Germany”, may be written into the operator's own private project notes.

Retention and deletion

Saved responses are kept for as long as the research they support is active, and are deleted by removing the run folders from the operator's computer. Access can be withdrawn at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions, which stops the tool from making further requests.

Limited Use

The tool's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
